New wildflower garden blooms in the heart of Westway
Colour, biodiversity and wellbeing come together
Canmoor has added a striking splash of colour to Westway at Glasgow Airport, with the creation of a new wildflower garden, designed to boost biodiversity, support pollinators and bring a touch of nature to the working environment.
The initiative has converted several areas of the estate into a haven for native wildflowers. Species such as cornflowers, poppies and daisies are now thriving, providing essential food sources for bees, butterflies and other pollinators whose populations have been under pressure in recent years.
Other benefits include improving soil health, reducing rainwater run-off and enhancing air quality across the estate.
Jim Nicol, Estate Manager explained:
“By planting native wildflowers, we are playing a crucial role in maintaining healthy environments and this project helps redress the balance.”
“We’ve already received positive feedback from tenants and workers at Westway, who appreciate having a green and inviting escape, which encourages them to step away from the warehouse floor or office desk, to enjoy nature and recharge during their breaks in a peaceful and colourful setting.”
The new garden supports wider environmental goals while aligning with Canmoor’s sustainability commitments, showing that industry and biodiversity can thrive together.
